Santeon (a group of 7 topclinical hospitals in the Netherlands) introduces a new approach to delirium; it is an innovation led by nurses. Delirium is an acute brain failure that causes severe confusion or apathy. The impact of delirium on the quality of life, the patient’s recovery, the burden on nurses and healthcare costs is very large. In many patients, delirium leads to permanent brain damage, such as dementia, memory and concentration problems. This (Dutch) video demonstrates the new delirium approach of the Santeon hospitals.
