EEG (electroencephalographam) is the depiction of the electrical activity in the brain. As delirium is acute failure of the brain, DeltaScan is a practical device for detection and monitoring for delirium in patients. DeltaScan can be used by healthcare professionals (nurses and doctors) at the patient’s bedside. The patient’s brain activity is rapidly measured and DeltaScan detects and quantifies those specific waveshape patterns in the EEG, that are characteristic for delirium (also called Polymophic Delta (PMD).

As a nurse, I wish to provide the best possible to care to the patients that are entrusted to my care. Detection of delirium is an important task, as delirium may lead to serious and lasting downstream complications and can be a distressing experience to patients and their loved ones, that slows down recovery. DeltaScan helps to make my task clear and easy. On my round, I give my patients their medication, provide woundcare, measure their vital signs such as the blood pressure and scan the patient’s brain activity for delirium. It is key to detect delirium as early as possible!
